GENTRY TAKES THE WIN AT LAKEVILLE SPEEDWAY

Lakeville, OH
05/28/10

Three new winners made it to the winners circle on Friday night at Lakeville Speedway on Ron Eddleblute's Garage night. J.R. Gentry took the win in the Hamlin Racing Engines Late Models, Tim Penley won the America's Best Siding Pure Stocks and Bobby Stamper grabbed the win in the Loudonville Tire 4 Cylinder Bombers. Two repeat winners were Seth Dickerson taking the Classic Cruisers and David Potts getting his third win of the year in the Mini Truck division.

Gentry had a lot of pressure on him for the entire event as Hiram Bachmann and Ryan Markham stayed within striking distance of the leader. Gentry and Bachmann started on the front row as Markham started sixth. A lap two caution slowed the field and aligned them in single file. On the restart, Markham moved from fourth to second as he cleared Bachmann and Coby Bartram and was in the runner up spot. Another yellow was on the track on lap eight for a spun car in turn four and Gentry got great restarts everytime, however Markham kept the pressure on the leader as he tried on several occassions to dip under Gentry in turn one and turn three. Gentry used a couple of the racing grooves that was provided by the new wider racing surface. Gentry refused to relinquish the lead and went on to win in his El Campesino/GDI over Markham, Bachmann. Brad Moore came from seventh to take fourth place and Jason Flory quietly raced from thirteenth to gather in a top five finish. Eric Eicholtz, Rick Bond and Markham were heat winners.

Penley went from the pole position to the checkered flag in his Penley Auto Service Pure Stock for his initial win of the 2010 season as the balance of the field raced hard behind the leader for positions. Rich Frame and points leader Justin Patterson had the best race as Patterson held down the runner up spot for the entire event until the final lap when Frame wrestled his way to that spot putting Patterson back to third place while Johnny Moore took fourth and Don baney was fifth. Frame and Penley recorded the two heat wins.

For the entire event in the 4 Cylinder Bombers A Main it was up for grabs of who will win it. Bobby Stamper jumped to the lead from starting third as soon as the green was shown. The next six drivers behind the leader went four wide at times to the delight of the fans. Roger Rush Sr, Brad Hensel, Chase Alexander and Steve Miller were all there ready to strike. At the mid race spot Stamper opened up a little bit of a lead until lap ten when Rush made another attempt to gather in the leader. Stamper was first across the finish line in his Wright Choice Auto sponsored Number 1S followed by Rush Sr, Brad Hensel, Alexander and Miller. the three heat winners were Zero Walter, Rush and Jordan James. Kevin Stamper won the B main.

Seth Dickerson won his second feature in the Classic Cruisers with Glenn Elliott taking second, Mason Radcliff was third, Kevin Wright fourth and Zack Medley fifth. Jim Gerbasi and Dickerson recorded heat wins.

David Potts made it three in a row in the Mini Trucks with Scott Gray second, Mike Graber third and heat winner Jack large was fourth.

Lakeville, Ohio
05/14/10

Charlie Duncan raced his way back to the winner circle at Lakeville Speedway on Friday night in the Late Model division as did Jason Hinton in the Pure Stocks along with Roger Rush Sr. taking the Bomber A main.  Glenn Elliott Jr. got his first win of the year in the Classic Cruisers and David Potts maintained his points lead with the victory in the Mini trucks.

Duncan found the fast way around the track in his heat race as he finished the heat in second place behind Ryan Markham.  Duncan started on the pole and led flag to flag in the Hamlin Racing Engines sponsored division.  Duncan driving his Halls Auto Sales entry had little pressure from anyone the entire event after the first five laps were recorded.  Coby Bartram was the one that was staying with Duncan early then Rick Bond joined the race upfront, however after a couple of cautions Duncan got very good restarts and won by a large margin.  Bond took the runner up spot, D.J. Cline finished third, Mike Lonas took fourth and Brad Moore raced from starting seventh to get a top five finish.  Markham and Bond were the heat winners.

The America's Best Siding sponsored Pure Stock feature was an exciting one as Todd Swim and Jason Hinton went side by side for many laps as Justin Patterson continued to try to find a way to pass the two front runners.  On the sixth lap Hinton powered out front as Swim and Patterson continued their battle.  Hinton maintained his lead and got his first feature win of the year with Patterson getting second, Swim was third, Johnny Moore was fourth and Jeff Penley was fifth.  Patterson and Moore were the heat winners.

Roger Rush Sr. made his first run of the year a good one as he took the win in the Loudonville Tire 4 Cylinder Bombers.  Rush started on the pole and had Zero Walter and Bobby Stamper on his tail for the entire event.  On the restart after a lap five caution, there were five cars that were in a bunch with just inches between them.  Rush was able to squeak out the win in his Rush Hour Towing, Greasy's Fabrication machine with Bobby Stamper second, Walter took third, Kevin Stamper was fourth and Gary Hensel Jr. took the fifth spot.  Jordan James, Doug Hensel and Bobby Stamper were the heat winners.

Glenn Elliott Jr. got back to his winning ways as he took the win in the Rod Eddleblute's Garage sponsored Classic Cruisers.  Points leader Mason Radcliff took second place, Bob Fry Jr. was third, Dale Beckett was fourth and Seth Dickerson finished fifth after he was the heat winner.

David Potts was perfect for the evening as he won the heat and the feature in the Mini Truck division.

FIVE NEW DRIVERS WIN AT LAKEVILLE SPEEDWAY

Lakeville,Oh
05/07/10

It appeared all day that there was no way that there would be any racing on Friday night at Lakeville Speedway as the weather reports were full of nothing but rain-wind-storms and many other definitions.  That did not slow down the mindset of promoter Randy Young as he refused to cancel the program and his foresight was better that the weatherman and the show went on as scheduled with the partnership of The Four Seasons Flowers and Gifts in Loudonville.

The night saw five new winners as Ryan Markham took the Hamlin Racing Engines Late Model feature with Bob Daugherty winning the America's Best Siding Pure Stocks, Chase Alexander won the Loudonville Tire 4 Cylinder Bombers, Seth Dickerson was the best in the Rod Eddleblute's Garage Classic Cruisers and David Potts was the winner in the Mini Trucks.

Ryan Markham in his Bead Frenzy,Hall's Industrial Insulation entry had a perfect evening as he won his heat, lined up on the pole for the feature and pretty much ran away with the top prize.  Early in the race, Travis Mensching stayed within striking distance but on every restart after a caution, Markham had the superior car and won by a large distance.  Several battles ensued during the race between Rick Bond and Charlie Duncan and also between Coby Bartram and points leader Mike Lonas.  Markham was the first across the finish line with Mensching second, Bartram was third, Lonas secured the fourth place and Bond was fifth.  Lonas and Bartram won the other two heats.

With his very consistent runs Bob Daugherty was the points leader entering the nights action.  He was able to maintain his points lead in his Met's Machine Shop, McKenzie Concrete Pure Stock.  He won the heat race started on the outside of the front row beside pole setter Justin Patterson.  Daugherty got the best of the start at the drop of the green as Patterson refused to give up.  On several occasions, Patterson was able to pull up on the quarter panel but could not pass the leader.  Those two took a sizable lead over the balance of the field and there was also some great action behind the two leaders.  When the checker was shown Daugherty got his first win of the early season with Patterson second,  Todd Swim was third, Jason Hinton finished in fourth and Josh Miller was fifth.

Not to be out done in the new winner category, Chase Alexander went flag to flag in his first win driving his Sportsman Bar, Smittley Towing 4 Cylinder Bomber.  Early stages of the event saw Doug Hensel, Gary Hensel Jr and Zero Walter battling at times three wide, then Bobby Stamper joining that group from his thirteenth starting spot.  Alexander had the strongest car of the night and took the checker first with Hensel Jr in second, Walter took third, Doug Hensel was fourth and Bobby Stamper rounding out the top five.  Jordan James, Kevin Stamper and Alexander were the heat winners.

The Classic Cruiser finale saw Seth Dickerson winning in his Ashland Auto Salvage, Oliveburg General Store entry.  He led all laps and at times was challenged by three time winner Mason Radcliff and late in the race Glenn Elliott Jr made a run for the lead, however Dickerson stayed out front.  Elliott took second, Radcliff was third, Zack Medley took fourth and Bob Fry was fifth.  Radcliff won the earlier evening heat race.

David Potts won the feature in the Mini Trucks as he also led every lap in his Potts Racing number 8K.Kyle Cline was second, Jack Large was third and Scott Gray was fourth and had also won the heat.

MIKE LONAS RETURNS TO THE PODIUM AT LAKEVILLE SPEEDWAY

Lakeville,Ohio
04/30/10

Mike Lonas went to the forefront again in the points battle in the Hamlin Racing Engines Lakeville Late Model action on Friday night by winning both the heat and the A Main.  He was lined up on the outside of the front row beside Rick Bond as Coby Bartram and J.R.Gentry filled up row two.  For the first two laps racing was very close with the top four staying within striking distance.  As the next lap was recorded, the first yellow of the event was shown for Dave Haven Sr.  On the restart, Lonas powered away from the field and built up a sizable lead.  Behind him was Bond in second, Gentry third and Charlie Duncan who had been battling with D.J. Cline and Bartram. Gentry and Duncan raced side by side for a couple of laps as Cline was able to replace Gentry for fourth place.  A couple more cautions occurred in the balance of the race and every time Lonas was the one with the best restart and stayed out-front in his Smittley Towing, Fultz Fabrication number 5L as Bond hung onto the runner up spot and stay only 2 points behind Lonas in the points.  On lap twenty Duncan moved around Cline for third as Gentry sailed home in fifth place.  Bartram and Lonas took the two heat wins.

It didnt appear that Justin Patterson was going to be able to win his second feature of the year in the Americas Best Siding Pure Stocks.  On the start it was all Bob Fry and Donna Canode up front battling side by side for many laps as those two swapped a very small lead over the other.  Fry used the top then the bottom of the track to try to get the advantage over Canode, however she hung very strong and stayed door to door with Fry.  On the last lap, the racing between the two front runners became too close as they made contact in the final turn and both coasted to a stop giving the lead to Patterson who had been right on the rear bumper of both of the leaders.  As the yellow was lifted and replaced with the green, Patterson powered his way to his second win of the year in his Tom's Salvage, Holmes Tire number 83 with Bob Daugherty grabbing second, Todd Swim was third, Canode got fourth and Johnny Moore was fifth.  Moore and Todd Gallion won the heats.

It was Miller time in the Loudonville Tire 4 Cylinder Bombers as Steve Miller got his first win of the year in the Extreme Bros. Racing entry.  He started on the outside of the front row with Gary Hensel Jr on the pole.  Miller led every lap of the event but not without a lot of good, clean pressure from Hensel. Jordan James became a player in the early stages and by lap four he was shown in third place, then took second from Hensel.  Many positions changed behind the leader as Dustin Cyrus was moving from starting eleventh, Brad Hensel from thirteenth as he had won the B Main, and Bobby Stamper from seventeenth.  The final three laps were a fans dream as Miller got the win with Hensel Jr, Cyrus, Brad Hensel and Bobby Stamper following him to the finish line.  Three heats were contested with Hensel Jr, Jeremy Lucas and Miller being the winners.

Mason Radcliff has stayed perfect on the year in the Rod Eddleblutes Garage Classic Cruisers as he took the heat and the feature win for the third straight week.  It wasn't that easy as rookie Steve Foley raced beside him all the way to the finish line but fell short by a couple of feet.  Radcliff in his Buckeye Deli entry and Foley rubbed a little off of turn four but was shaking hands after the event in the infield.  Finishing third was Zack Medley, Seth Dickerson took fourth and Jim Gerbasi was fifth.

Jack Large drove to his first win this year in the Mini Truck division as Scott Gray was second,  David Potts took third, Kyle Cline was fourth.  Rollie Heyder was DQed for not reporting for the post race inspection.

Action will continue next Friday May 7th with all five divisions in action.Bring Mom out for the Mothers Day Special.

COREY CONLEY MAKES IT TWO IN A ROW AT LAKEVILLE SPEEDWAY

Lakeville, Ohio
04/23/10

The weather finally gave its permission for Lakeville Speedway to present its second event of the year after forcing two Friday night dates to be cancelled due to either rain or severe cold conditions.  Donley Auto Group was the partner for the evening and a very good group of race cars assembled in the pits along with a large fan count.  Corey Conley made the long trek from Wellsburg West Virginia in his Denoon Lumber sponsored entry and made it worth while as he gathered in his second feature victory in as many attempts.  He won the first heat in the Hamlin Racing Engines Late Model program and was lined up on the pole in the finale beside Jason Flory with Coby Bartram and Brad Moore in row two.  In his normal competitive action, Conley took the point at the sign of the green and went flag to flag for the win.  Moore began to get pressure from Mike Lonas as he had moved from his fifth place start.  Conley experienced lapped traffic on lap five, however it did not slow him down and on a couple of restarts
after a caution, Conley was able to get super strong restarts on the top of the track.  His experience and talents permitted him to weave in and out of lap cars with precise moves.  On lap twelve, Lonas replaced Moore in the runner up spot as eighth place starter Rick Bond moved in on the rear bumper of Lonas.  Charlie Duncan had to start tenth and by lap fourteen he was knocking on the door for a top five finish.  A couple more late race cautions bunched the field up close but no one had anything for Conley as he was first across the finish line with Lonas in second,  Bond took third, Duncan gathered in fourth and Flory finished fifth.  Heat wins were won by Travis Mensching, Flory and Conley.

The America's Best Siding Pure Stock feature became very scary on lap six when Todd Gallion and Bob Daugherty made contact off of turn two and collected Josh Miller who had led the early part of the event, along with Don Baney Jr., and Johnny Moore.  It appeared that several of the race cars were severely damaged, if not totaled out, however no injuries were sustained.  After the clean up, Donna Gentry went to the point and took the win in her Howard Hanna, Gloria Braun sponsored entry.  Gallion tried to battled back for the win but had to settle for a runner up finish.  Travis Nicely and Dennis Amstutz was disqualified after post race inspection which made the top five Canode, Gallion, Clint Oswalt, Daugherty and Moore.  Miller and Daugherty won the two heats.

The 2008 track champion in the the 4 Cylinder Bomber division, Jordan James got back in his winning ways by winning the the feature from his fourth place start.  Zero Walter, also a past champ was on the pole with Bobby Stamper on the outside.  Stamper took the early lead with Walter and James battling for the second spot.  Brad Hensel joined the battle along with Chase Alexander.  The 2007 track champ, Gary Hensel Jr. was working hard from starting tenth.  Hensel, Alexander and Hensel Jr went three wide at times to the liking of the fans.  James was the winner with Walter taking second, Brad Hensel third, Alexander fourth and Gary Hensel getting fifth.  Bobby Stamper, Kevin Wright and Kyle Moore got the heat wins and Brad Lawhorn winning the B Main in the Loudonville Tire division.

Mason Radcliff won his second feature of the year in his Tioga Parts sponsored Cruiser.  Zach Medley was runner up with Mike Amstutz taking third, Seth Dickerson was fourth and Steven Foley fifth.  Radcliff also took the heat win in the Rod Eddleblute's Garage Cruisers.

Rollie Heyder made in two in a row in the Mini Truck Series with Kyle Cline second, David Potts third and Scott Gray fourth.  Gray took the heat win.

COREY CONLEY WINS OPENING NIGHT AT LAKEVILLE SPEEDWAY

Lakeville, Oh April 2, 2010

A near capacity crowd jammed the grandstands at Lakeville Speedway for the opening night of the 2010 season. The evening began with an Easter egg hunt for the youngsters with some great gifts for all who participated.

Rick Bond set the pace in the first heat of the Hamlin Racing Engine Late Models as he was the first to the checker with Corey Conley winning the second heat. In the feature event, the front row was made up of Kristin Flory and Conley with Bond and Ryan Eddleblute in row two. Conley wasted no time in taking his Hooch machine to the point as Bond put heavy pressure on Flory who was in the runner up spot. Charlie Duncan started fifth and had slid into fourth place as they entered the half way point. Mike Lonas joined the affair up front and that was when the side by side battles began. Conley was loving this as he maintained a sizable lead over the balance of the field. Near the end of the race, Duncan and Bond battled for position as did Lonas and J.R. Gentry. Gentry had came from starting fifteenth as he found the fast way around on the top of the track. At the finish line it was Conley, Flory, Bond, Lonas and Duncan in the top five spots.

The Americas Best Siding Pure Stock car count was low, however that did not deter the efforts on the track. Justin Patterson dominated the field as won the heat and the main event in his Tom's Salvage, Holmes Tire #83.It was his second heat win and his very first feature win in his short career. Mike Lonas drove Todd Swim's entry in the heat and Swim was in the car for the feature. Bob Daugherty was the runner up in the main event with Swim in third, Johnny Moore finishing fourth and Donna Canode in fifth.

Three heat races were contested in the Loudonville Tire sponsored 4 Cylinder Bombers with Jordan James, Justin Brown and Dustin Cyrus taking the wins. Chase Alexander won the B main. There was constant action in the feature as Brad Lawhorn, James and Jeremy Lucas raced very close in the early stages of the contest. At the half way point, it was anybody's race to win as five of the top runners were side by side for several laps and the finish was destined to be a dandy. Brown started in eighteenth place and Alexander was coming from his twelfth place start. Several lead changes occurred and on the final lap, Brown made his move for the win as Alexander barely beat out Lawhorn for second as James finished fourth and Lucas secured a fifth place finish.

Mason Radcliff was perfect for the evening as he won the heat and the feature in the Cruisers with Glenn Elliott Jr. finishing second, Mike Amstutz was third, Zack Medley was fourth and Steven Foley fifth.

Rollie Heyder took the heat win in the Mini trucks with Scott Gray winning the feature.

The action will continue at Lakeville Speedway on Friday April 9th with all five divisions in action.
