The “Black Deuce” Survives The “Rough Rider’s” Steel Block Dog Fight

Week #6 of the 2010 racing season brought the “Rough Rider’s” Steel Block Late Model’s into town for the first time and with the show they put on, it won’t be the last! On a sticky night in June, the record setting crowd was treated to one of the best nights we have had at 250 Speedway as all of the divisions were very competitive and drove their guts out. A big call goes out to Track Owner Dan Wagner, “Stormin” Norman Aronhault, Jerrico Jones, Randy Twarog and Jay Cline and the rest of the track crew for all the hard work that went into the track preparation this past week and the organization of this wonderful event over the past few months. An eye popping eighty racers were pit side at the 3/8 mile oval where the spectators paid for a full seat, but they only needed the edge.

During pre-race ceremonies one of our local “hero’s” was saluted by the awesome crowd. Joe Thomas, driver of the #62 “Silver Bullet” in the Pure Stock Division was on hand between deployments to Iraq. He thanked all the men and women service members that continue to fight for our freedom and praised the friends and families that support them. We wish all the best to Joe and wish him a safe and speedy return back to the states, THANK YOU TO ALL MEMBERS OF OUR ARMED FORCES FOR ALL THAT YOU DO FOR OUR PRECIOUS NATION!!

The Main attraction of the evening was of course, the “Rough Rider’s” Steel Block Late Model’s and their $1,500 to win, thirty lapper. Heat race winners Nick Corbitt and Kevin Smith were on row #1 and DJ Cline and the “Batman” Scotty Peltz in row #2. Smith was able to slide his way out front, using the top lane of the race track with Corbitt, Donnie Dotson, Cline and “Fast” Freddie Carpenter close behind. The race would run under green until we hit some snags in the middle part of the race, one eliminating the #C4 of Carpenter that unfortunately sent him to the hospital with an arm injury. After the brief red flag period, the racing action started to pick up. Corbitt continued to pester Smith for that top spot, working the bottom of the race track. All three grooves seemed to work well for different drivers at different times and that makes for super exciting, side by side action throughout the field. Just past the halfway point of the event, Corbitt was able to finally put a nifty little “slide job” on the “Black Deuce” coming off turn four and take the lead. As the laps clicked away, DJ Cline in the #4 machine joined into the mix and made it a threesome for the lead. As the leaders started to put some of the competitors a lap down, the leaders found themselves three-wide at times. Unfortunately for Corbitt, he caught one of the slower machines at the wrong time, had to check up and dive from the middle of that three-wide battle to the bottom to avoid the slower machine, but the #4 was there, the two made some contact and that allowed the Smith machine to slide by on the top of the racetrack. After two late cautions on laps twenty seven and twenty eight, we had a two lap shootout for the cool cash that awaited the winner in victory lane. Corbitt and Cline had a little better set-up for the longer runs and fortunately for Smith, he had a better one for the short run. Smith was able to get a good restart and the #15 of Corbitt and the #4 of Cline was not able to do anything with the #2 of Smith. Following the Belle Valley, OH driver in the Oasis Bar and Grille, Whitey’s Wood Service, Smith’s Stor-it-all, Lloyd Smith Excavating, J&L Fuels and Belle Valley Car Wash sponsored “Black Deuce” to the checkered flag was Corbitt, Cline, Peltz and Rick Armstrong rounding out the top 5. What a great show!!!!!

The second feature of the evening was the 15 lap Super Sport feature and it was another good one. Bringing the field down for Chief Starter Keith Decker’s green flag was heat race winner’s Tim Rager in the #33M and Tory Gibbs in the #10. After a botched first attempt, the race got underway with the #10 of Gibbs showing that he was the man to beat with the #33M running right behind until he got sideways in turn number four on lap two, bringing out the only caution of the event. On the restart, Jim Hess wasn’t in his normal looking machine, after a nasty accident two weeks ago destroyed it. Early last week, he received a call to drag a car out of moth balls and go out and have some fun, little did he know what was about to unfold. Gibbs had the strongest car and started stretching out his lead lap after lap, hoping that the bad luck bug wouldn’t bite him again. As the #10 pulled away, a good battle between Mike Phillips Jr. in the #11TEEN, Glen Richea in the #77R and Sam Clegg in the #2 was going on pretty fierce over the final 5 or 6 circuits. As the race leader passed under the white flag, everything seemed right with the world, until the car lost momentum coming off turn two for the final time. Hess was able to squeak by on the outside and Gibbs limped home to pick up second. Following the Centerville, OH driver in the Buffalo Bar & Grille, Pat’s Reloading, LogoTek Vinyl Graphics, Larry Mason Paint,

D&K Heating and Cooling and Dad’s Checkbook sponsored #11H to the stripe were Gibbs, Phillips Jr., Richea and Clegg. Let the record show that for the first time, 250 Speedway witnessed a very excited yet humble “Hessy” in victory circle.

The TSMA Modified 20 lap feature was next on the course. Heat race winner’s Jon Sluka in the #21J and Joe Gabrielson in the #58 started on the front row. The Gabrielson machine was able to jump out front with Sluka and Rob Melzer in the #23M right behind. The racing was very good throughout the field despite the race being marred by caution flags. Gabrielson was able to really make his machine work on the middle-upper part of the surface. After a lap 5 spin by second place runner Sluka, DJ Cline, who earlier in the evening was able to pick up a podium finish in the Late Model event, took his turn at the #58. Lap after lap and restart after restart Cline worked the bottom of the race track trying to find a way around the leader. The two would slide away from a three-way battle between Melzer, Jim Plance in the #4J and Rory Reed in the #R88b for third. As the laps wound down, Gabrielson never faltered, driving an outstanding race and holding off one of the best in the business. Following the soon to be College Graduate on Sunday (depending on how the races at Sharon Speedway on Sat. night go, of course) from Bristolville, OH to the line was Cline, Melzer, Plance and Reed.

The Pure Stock’s took to the speedway for their 15 lap feature, with the #71 of Mike Powell and The #761 of Tony Wilson bringing the field down for the start. Wilson was able to place his racer out in front of Rich Schweitzer in the #84 and Shawn Woods in the #X100 with Powell dropping back to 4 th. Coming off of turn four to complete the third circuit, a three-wide fracas was taking place for the top spot and Woods was the winner of the battle, but would he win the war? That answer came a few laps after Schweitzer was able to work his way by the #X100 machine for the lead, when Woods had problems off turn four, relegating him to a spot outside the top 5. As the laps clicked away, Powell was able to maneuver his way back up to the second position, but it was too late to put any heat on the leader, he was long gone. Give these drivers a lot of credit, they race hard, trade a lot of paint, but they do it in a sportsman-like manner, running caution free races on a consistent basis. Following the New Philadelphia, OH driver in the Pringlephotography.net, Kidd Pringle Graphix, Austin-Branson and Cale sponsored #84 was Powell, Rich Frohnaple, Matt Wallick and Justin VanFossen.

The final feature of the evening was in the 4-Cylinder division. Starting on the pole was Scott “Rowdy” Bush in the #95 with Jimmy Orr in the #28 along side. Orr was able to race his way out front with Bush close behind. Bush, trying to pick up another season dominating victory in the 4-Cylinder division had his work cut out for him tonight. Orr kept his machine right in the top groove and Bush would follow right in his tire tracks for most of the caution free event (did I say caution free again? Cudo’s to the 4-Cylinder guys as well). Attrition played a big part in this event as numerous competitors retired due to mechanical gremlins, but that didn’t slow down the front two. Bush continued to mirror Orr as the two took the fastest way around. The #28 may have slipped once or twice, but on this night he was too strong for Bush. Following the Dennison, OH driver in the R&K Supply and MFC Drilling sponsored #28 to the line was Bush, Dan Rummes, Luke Freed and Brandon Welker.

Please join us next week as we play host to the first TSMA Modified sanctioned race of the 2010 season at 250 Speedway. Modified drivers from 3+ States will be battling it out for the $1,000 payday. NASCAR stars Stewart, Ambrose, Kerr to drive sprints at Fremont

Saturday, June 5, 2010
Contact: Brian Liskai

FREMONT, Ohio – Some of the best drivers in the United States have competed on the clay oval of Fremont Speedway in the historic Sandusky County Fairgrounds. Now add to that list NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers Tony Stewart and Marcos Ambrose.

Stewart, a NASCAR champion and owner of the historic Eldora Speedway dirt track in Ohio, will pilot his own winged sprint car at “The Track That Action Built.” Joining Stewart will be fellow NASCAR driver Marcos Ambrose and his crew chief, former champion of the All Star Circuit of Champion Sprint Cars, Frank Kerr. Local sprint teams will provide the cars for Kerr and Ambrose.

Fremont Speedway Promoter Rich Farmer said there is a possibility a couple of other NASCAR drivers may be on hand as well.

“Frank and Marcos came here last year and raced and had a blast and said they wanted to do it again,” said Farmer.

The exhibition race will be held Thursday, June 10. Admission is just $2 in the grandstands while pit passes are $15. The time of the event has yet to be determined…watch Fremont’s website at www.fremontohspeedway.com for more information.

Johnson Wins Gillette Fusion ProGlide Prelude to the Dream
Levine Children's Hospital Captures Team Competition at Eldora Speedway

ROSSBURG, Ohio (June 9, 2010) - Four-time and reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson added to his already impressive racing resume by winning the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Prelude to the Dream charity dirt Late Model race at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Johnson led all 30 laps at the half-mile dirt oval, but endured a serious challenge from Kyle Busch and Clint Bowyer throughout much of the event. "It's been a steep learning curve, for sure, but it's been a lot of fun to do," said Johnson, who made his Prelude and dirt Late Model debut in 2008. "We tested a couple of times last year, and I think it screwed me up. I just came here cold turkey and tried to go off of my memory, and it worked. The team knew what they wanted to do with the car through the course of the night with the setup, and Clint (Bowyer) was working with us and it just got better and better."

Bowyer, who owns the car Johnson used to win the Prelude to the Dream, finished .683 of a second behind Johnson in the runner-up spot. Carl Edwards, Busch and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top-five. "You know, it's cool to come home one-two," Bowyer said. "A lot of hard work goes into this. This is a lot of fun, but let me tell you, my guys at the shop work their butts off. So, I'm very proud they were able to come and enjoy this night, to see Jimmie win. Me and Kyle, we were battling it out. He doored me down there, and I wasn't going to let him get away with it. I was going to pass him one way or another. It's really cool to be able to have Jimmie in the car. He's a four-time champion for a reason, and that proves it right there."

"This race has gotten competitive enough where I don't want to own a car," Johnson added. "I want to keep driving other people's stuff. People are testing and working really hard to come up here and run well."

Eldora Speedway owner and two-time Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart, who won the past two Prelude to the Dreams, was impressed with Johnson's maturation as a dirt Late Model driver. "Well, I'm convinced he can drive anything," Stewart said. "I think if we got him a ride in the space shuttle, he could do it, no worries. I mean, we saw it last year. When I followed him in the heat races, I was like this guy has picked this up really, really fast. So it doesn't surprise me at all. But it's cool to have a guy who hasn't won here before. He had to do it the hard way. He had some good guys behind him. It's hard to fight them off. It's hard when you're leading because you never know where to go on a dirt track because the conditions change. He got rolling around the top pretty good tonight, like a veteran."

The Gillette Fusion ProGlide Prelude to the Dream was presented live to the entire nation on HBO Pay-Per-View(r) with net proceeds from the telecast supporting four of the nation's top children's hospitals:
* Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis: www.RileyChildrensHospital.com

* Cincinnati Children's: www.CincinnatiChildrens.org

* Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, N.C.: www.LevineChildrensHospital.org

* St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.: www.StJude.org

The race was a team event with the field broken up into four groups, each representing a children's hospital:
* Team Riley: Bowyer (captain), Ryan Newman, Jeff Gordon, A.J. Allmendinger, Justin Allgaier, Kenny Wallace, Ron Capps.

* Team Cincinnati: Kasey Kahne (captain), Joey Logano, Tony Stewart, Bobby Labonte, Bill Elliott and Cruz Pedregon.
* Team Levine: Busch (captain), Johnson, Matt Kenseth, David Reutimann, Dave Blaney, Marcos Ambrose, Travis Pastrana.
* Team St. Jude: Hamlin (captain), Edwards, Ken Schrader, Aric Almirola, Ricky Carmichael, Tony Kanaan, Ray Evernham.

The finishing positions of the top-five drivers from each team were added together with the lowest team score winning 45 percent of the net money raised. Johnson's win, coupled with Busch's fourth-place effort, helped Team Levine score a victory with 45 total points. Team St. Jude finished second with 48 points, while Team Cincinnati (49 points) and Team Riley (71 points) finished third and fourth, respectively. As a result, St. Jude will receive 25 percent of the net money raised, and Team Cincinnati and Team Riley will each receive 15 percent of the net money raised.

If you missed the pay-per-view telecast, be sure to catch the re-premiere on Saturday. Check local listings for pay-per-view times.

TONY STEWART, (Finished Sixth, Owner of Eldora Speedway):

How was your run? You decided to gamble a bit and start at the back and go for a $50,000 bonus for Team Cincinnati. Knowing that, a sixth-place finish is still pretty impressive.

"It was fun. It was a little bit hairy at the beginning with some guys who struggled in the back. It was a little dusty at the beginning, back where we were. We needed a long, long run and we got better and better and better as the race went on and got three or four spots just in the last couple of laps there. It was pretty cool. I would've liked to have had about 10 or 20 more laps. I think we could have been up there giving Jimmie a run for it."

I know you put a lot of time into this race and into preparing this racetrack. How was it tonight for the wide range of experience that was out there tonight?

"I thought it was really racy. Some guys will probably come back next year and be much better than they were this year. This is not an easy track to go to for the first time. To come here and run as hard as you have to run at this place, I thought everybody did a really good job. There were guys from the top to the bottom, and everywhere in-between, racing each other. So it was fun to watch."

KYLE BUSCH, (Finished Fourth, Captain of Team Levine):

You ran in second-place for much of the race, but it seemed like Johnson was just a tick better. All in all, what did you think about your run?

"It was a fun deal. I really enjoy coming out here and running this race. It's just frustrating not being able to ever close one of these deals out. I felt like, if it went green the whole way, I probably could've won. But they had different tires and a different setup that would really go on the short run and that really killed us."

You weren't able to bring home the race trophy tonight, but your team did win the team competition.

"Yeah, I didn't win, but at least I was the captain of the winning team. I'm just really happy that our efforts - especially Jimmie's - helped us to make a donation to Levine Children's Hospital. I just want to thank Tony for doing this. We all have a lot of fun out here."

CARL EDWARDS, (Finished Third):

Racing from 17th to third was quite a performance. It looked like you enjoyed yourself tonight.

"Yeah, it was fun. The guys worked really hard. Somebody (Ron Capps) ran over that cone during one of the restarts. So I figured, no cone, no rules. That's how I got a couple of people on that last restart - running around the bottom. There, for a minute, I could see the lead and thought this is going to be pretty good. We just needed a little bit more time. Man, that was a lot of fun. I had a blast."

This year's Prelude event offered a bit of change with drivers on teams working to help specific charities. You were part of Team St. Jude. How was that experience?

"It was very cool to be involved with St. Jude. I've been very fortunate over the years to be involved with a lot of good people and, hopefully, we'll be donating a lot of money to them after tonight."

Your crew was pretty pumped up about your run through the field. They said they threw a setup at it that you won this race with a couple of years ago. Obviously, it worked then and again tonight

"Yeah, we just had a lot of fun. Stacey Holmes owns the car and works hard at it. He is one heck of a racer. We tried a bunch of different stuff and then he just essentially put in what we had last time when we won the race. We got close. I just wish this was more than once a year. I want to start again tomorrow night and run again. That's fun."

DENNY HAMLIN, (Finished Fifth, Captain of Team St. Jude):

You sustained some damage to your car early in the heat laps, but then you moved up from deep in the field to get a top-five. What does that mean to you?

"We went from 24th to fifth. That's a pretty big accomplishment for us. I was running the bottom and I just kept passing cars. I just got a bad restart on that last one. I think I needed a longer race. I tell you we were definitely moving forward."

Talk a little bit about the team aspect of tonight's event, and what it means to you that you guys were able to raise money for four different charities, including yours, St. Jude?

"That was a big deal, for sure. It looked like a few of our guys were in the wall. But it's good that at least the captain of the St. Jude team finished up well."

A ton of guys again came out to Eldora, and it looks like you all have a ton of fun. What does this event mean to you?

"It's just a great event. We raise a ton of money, which is great for a lot of kids' charities, and that's really important for us to do. I'm glad to be a part of it. It definitely takes me out of my element, and I guess some guys are back in their element when they're racing here. But it's just a lot of fun and it's something we look forward to every year." KASEY KAHNE, (Finished Eighth, Captain of Team Cincinnati):

Talk about your night in the Prelude.

"I had a good time. I didn't really pass a lot of cars in the feature, but it was alright. This is always a fun race, and we all enjoy it."

Talk about the team aspect of tonight's race.

"It was good. We were able to come together and raise a lot of money for some children's hospitals, which is cool."

JEFF GORDON, (Finished 22nd):

What did you think of this year's team concept benefiting the four children's hospitals? "I love the fact that it puts a lot of emphasis on each of those hospitals. I know I didn't contribute much to our team tonight. You always want to win, but the Prelude to the Dream is always a great event, no matter where you finish."

You were able to move up several positions over the course of the race. World of Outlaws Late Model Series driver, Clint Smith, prepared your car. How did you feel going into the feature?

"Clint and his team did an awesome job with the car. I don't feel as though I was very well prepared for tonight. I haven't driven one of these cars for two years. I don't like making excuses, but the car was a lot better than I was. You know, I just don't need to skip out a year. I'll have to come back every year and make sure we get the laps we need so we can give these guys a better effort."

Will you be back for the 2011 Prelude to the Dream?

"I certainly hope so. I hope they do another Prelude event. I love this event and I always want to come back to Eldora Speedway. It just depends on my schedule and how things are going in the season. It worked out this year, as well as two other years, so hopefully there'll be a fourth."

Was it fun to get back on the dirt again?

"I always love doing the dirt races. I miss it so much. It was always so much fun when I was dirt racing full-time. These cars (dirt Late Models) are a totally different animal on the dirt. I'd definitely like to get to know them better, but dirt racing is always fun, no matter what type of car you're in."

TONY KANAAN, (Finished 24th):

What did you think of your first dirt Late Model race?

"By far, this is the craziest thing I have ever done. I had a lot of fun. I can't describe it. I definitely put myself in a very difficult spot, not testing and never being on dirt in my life. In 35 years, I've never driven a car like this or on a surface like this. I really thank Tony Stewart. I hope the fans enjoyed it. I'm definitely going to practice and I hope to be back next year. The biggest thing I learned is that we think our racetrack changes a lot? This is completely another world. I can drive with the brakes and the throttle at the same time, which I can't do in my (Indy) car."

TRAVIS PASTRANA, (Finished 23rd):

What did you think of your first dirt Late Model race?

"It was good, but it started out really rough. I came into the first turn and everyone turned left really hard to go to the inside. I did a quick spin and got back going. It was cool, though, because I was running with Ricky (Carmichael) most of the time, so I was either right behind him or in front of him the whole time. And then ... you see this tire mark I put there on thefront of his car? I got some good air getting launched off the front of Ricky's car. Then, the last few laps was actually where I started feeling good in the car. I really like the restarts, where they put everyone close together, where I actually was able to start picking off some people. Still, I was way in the back, but I felt really good. The car was great. It took me a long time to get it figured out. I started out using high lines, low lines, until I finally found a groove that started working for me with about 20 laps to go. I definitely want to practice a little before I come back. But, definitely, this is really cool."

RICKY CARMICHAEL, (Finished 19th):

What did you think of your first dirt Late Model race?

"It was pretty fun. What an experience. I just got too greedy at the beginning and spun out. Someone hit my right front and knocked the toe in. The rest was history. I want to thank Tony Stewart, Oakley and Team Dillon Racing just for the opportunity. The event was really for a great cause and I was just glad to be a part of it."

What did you think of the team concept for this year's Prelude?

"The team concept was really cool. It made it a race within a race. Eldora Speedway is just awesome and the entire event and being part of Team St. Jude was just a lot of fun."

What was your first impression of first lap of the feature event?

"It was crazy. I got caught up in the moment and spun out. It was a really cool deal."

Hess wins Tri-State title and finishes fourth in O'Reilly All Star Late Models, Briggs gets $4,000 All Star Late Model purse
E-Mod action featured top-10 finishes by NASCAR drivers Dave Blaney, Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace

HARTFORD, Ohio (June 8, 2010) – Tuesday night at Sharon Speedway brought together two divisions of fast-paced, thrilling race action for fans. It was night that included All Star Late Models and Tri-State Modified Association.

The evening also brought out NASCAR drivers Dave Blaney, Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace to get in on the dirt track action. The 25-lap, 25-car Tri-State Modified Feature that featured the NASCAR drivers was packed with excitement.

Brent Rhebergen (Klymer, NY) held onto the lead for the first few laps of E-Mod racing, but Dave Hess Jr. (Waterford, Pa.) moved up from a 10th place starting position to knock on the door.

It was his first time running in the car, who got a chance to run when another driver couldn't get the night off work to race. Hess was the winner of

Michael Richard moved up from 11th to finish second, holding off NASCAR driver Ken Shrader, who finished third. Rhebergen finished fourth, Randy Hall rounded out the top five, followed by Tom Hagberg.

One of Sharon Speedway's owners and NASCAR driver, Dave Blaney, drove an E-Mod Tuesday to a sixth place finish. It was also his first time in that car. Fellow NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace finished eighth after winning the second of four E-Mod heats.

O'Reilly All Star Late Models saw 24 cars compete in a 40-lap A-Main feature, another big event for Hess. When the green flag dropped, Doug Horton (Brewston Mills, WV) and Boom Briggs (Bear Lakes, Pa.) stayed door-to-door for several laps, with Briggs out-nosing Horton. Behind them, Robbie Blair (Titusville, Pa.) and Hess battled for first and second.

A restart on lap 11 set up a three-car battle for first: Briggs went to the inside, Blair went out and Horton, the fastest driver in qualifying, kept his nose in between. Halfway through the feature, Horton got his chance to take the lead. They'd exchange the position for the next 20 laps,  both seeking the $4,000 purse.

A restart with two to go saw Horton fall back, letting Blair move up to finish second. Briggs stayed to the inside to reach the finish line first. Briggs thanked Blair for his help setting up the car, noting it was a clean race with no rubbing.

Horton finished third, Hess recorded a fourth place finish followed by Gregg Satterlee.

First-Ever Visit To Merrittville Speedway Brings Mixture Of Business & Pleasure
For World of Outlaws Late Model Series Teams

Canadian Track Located Just Minutes From Tourist Haven Of Niagara Falls

THOROLD, ONT – June 7, 2010 – The stars of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will be all business when the national tour makes its much-anticipated first-ever visit to Merrittville Speedway on Thurs., June 17. But before and after the historic 50-lap, $10,000-to-win event? Well, some of the travelers just might take advantage of the Canadian track's ideal location to catch a break from the rigors of the road. With Merrittville's date sitting between two off days from the WoO LMS 'Great Northern Tour' schedule, teams will have an opportunity for a rare bit of fun away from the racetrack. The D-shaped, one-third-mile oval, after all, is located just minutes from the tourist and entertainment Mecca of Niagara Falls.

Fans have long been packaging a racing trip to Merrittville with sightseeing visits to the famed Niagara Falls area, and this year the busy Outlaw teams can arrange their itineraries to enjoy the same double. Several series regulars are planning to do just that, including veteran Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga., who has tasted the local Falls flavor in the past and is anxious to spend some time there again.
"Back in 2004 (the inaugural WoO LMS season under the World Racing Group banner) we had a few days off while we were on a New York swing so me, (wife) Kim and (teenager daughter) Jenna went over to Niagara Falls," said Smith, who often points his hauler toward popular tourist areas while away from home. "We stayed on the Canadian side for a couple days and had a real good time."
Smith said he "did just about everything there was to do" around Niagara Falls – strolling the paths alongside the natural wonder, walking up-and-down the neon-lined Clifton Hill, taking a ride on the Maid of the Mist boat tour, visiting the town's Casino. He saw enough to serve as the tour guide for a group of Outlaws that will likely invade the city this year. "We'll definitely try to go there again," said Smith, who is in his seventh season following the WoO LMS. "We're racing too close (to the Falls) to just drive by it."

The WoO LMS will precede its stop at Merrittville with the 'Great Northern Tour' opener on Tues., June 15, at Can-Am Motorsports Park in Lafargeville, N.Y. Most teams are expected to immediately head toward Niagara Falls following Can-Am's action in order to cross the U.S./Canadian border on Wednesday, giving them enough time to sample the area. A longtime home of DIRTcar-sanctioned 358-Modified racing, Merrittville Speedway sits on Merrittville Highway just over 12 miles from downtown Niagara Falls. The track is slightly over 120 miles from Erie, Pa., via the Buffalo Peace Bridge, putting it within reasonable driving distance for dirt Late Model fans from western Pennsylvania and Northeastern Ohio who are looking for a fun-filled getaway.

A star-studded field of World of Outlaws standouts will tackle the tricky Merrittville layout, including former series champions Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., who is well-known to Merrittville's DIRTcar Modified fans, Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., Steve Francis of Ashland, Ky., and Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky. The Outlaw roster also includes Clint Smith, Tim Fuller of Watertown, N.Y. – another former DIRTcar Modified regular with experience at Merrittville – Rick Eckert of York, Pa., Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa., Brady Smith of Solon Springs, Wis., Shane Clanton of Locust Grove, Ga., Russell King of Bristolville, Ohio, and rookies Austin Hubbard of Seaford, Del., and Jill George of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Other drivers expected to join the Outlaws as entrants at Merrittville include Rick 'Boom' Briggs of Bear Lake, Pa., Dan Stone of Thompson, Pa., Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills, Pa., Mike Knight of Ripley, N.Y., 15-year-old Tyler Reddick of Corning, Calif., and April Farmer of Livingston, Tenn., plus 2009 Ontario Dirt Late Model Series champion Greg Oakes of Franklinville, N.Y., and other racers from the Canadian tour and western Pennsylvania.

Pit gates will open at 2 p.m. and the grandstands will be unlocked at 4 p.m. on Thurs., June 17. Hot laps are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and time trials will commence at 7 p.m.
Ticket prices are $35 for adults, $12 for children ages 5-14 and free for kids 5-and-under. Pit Passes are $40.
Advance tickets are available by calling 905-892-8266. VISA and MasterCard are accepted.
A raindate of Fri., June 18, has been established for the event.
Additional info on the inaugural WoO LMS event at Merrittville is available by logging on to www.merrittvillespeedway.com.

Following the Can-Am and Merrittville shows, the WoO LMS Great Northern Tour will move on to Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, Que., on June 19; Cornwall (Ont.) Motor Speedway on June 20; Brewerton (N.Y.) Speedway on June 22; and Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., for the blockbuster Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com from June 24-26.

Explaining The System: How The 2010 DIRTcar Racing Points Champions Are Determined

CONCORD, NC – June 7, 2010 – The 2010 points championships for members in DIRTcar Racing's eight sanctioned divisions will be determined by driver talent, team strength, Lady Luck...and a calculator. The organization's post-season recognition and awards program has been fine-tuned in 2010 to benefit the weekly racer and reward drivers' success without requiring them to run the most events. The return of State champions will bring the chase to the home tracks, with State points funds leading to the lucrative national standings that create a national ranking, rewards and prestige. National and State points standings are maintained for DIRTcar Late Models, UMP Modifieds, Pro Late Models, Sportsman, Limited Modifieds, Stock Cars, Factory Stocks and Sport Compacts and overall will recognize hundreds of drivers and teams competing across the country. This season's DIRTcar points awards system largely mirrors the one used in 2009, with some minor alterations to benefit the thousands of weekly, one-track teams. Bonus points will once again be available based on car counts as in the past, but DIRTcar Racing officials have adjusted the number of races that drivers will count toward their overall points totals. As the battle for the national and state points titles roars into its third month of weekly action, here's some bullet points detailing how drivers will accumulate points in hopes of collecting a share of the nearly $400,000 in points-fund cash on the line in 2010.

* In all divisions, winners of sanctioned feature events receive 75 points. There's a five-point per position drop through sixth place, then two points per position through 11th and one point per position from 12th through last place.

* Bonus points are awarded only to feature event participants on a scale of one point for every car over 20 entered in an event. A bonus-points ceiling of 10 points per race has been established, so the most 'event' points – the combination of finish and bonus points – a driver can receive for a single race is 85 (feature win with a field of 30 or more cars).

* When a B-Main is run, drivers not qualifying for the feature receive finish points starting with the first non-transfer and dropping one point per position to a minimum of 10 points. Any driver participating in an event will receive a minimum of 10 points.

* Drivers may begin replacing their lowest 'event' points nights after completing a minimum number of sanctioned races – 35 for the Late Models, 25 for the UMP Modifieds and 15 for all other divisions. Last year Late Model drivers began replacing races after 40 events and UMP Modified competitors after 30 events.

* All races must have 10 or more cars entered in order for driver to receive full points. If a race has nine or less cars, points will be reduced 10 percent for each car – ie., nine cars equals 90 percent points, eight cars equals 80 percent points, etc.

* All points ties at the end of the season will be broken by the greatest number of wins among the dead-locked drivers. If a tie stillexists, the number of second-place, third-place, etc. finishes will be compared until the tie is broken.

* For any event to award points, a sanctioning agreement between the track and DIRTcar Racing must be in place. Added events must be approved 10 days prior to the event.

* Drivers who do not have DIRTcar Racing memberships by July 15, 2010, will not be eligible to share in the post-season points fund. In addition, eligibility to participate in the points-fund awards may be forfeited by any member violating DIRTcar rules.

* The 2010 points season began on Jan. 1, but only a driver's highest finish-points race each week was counted from that date through March 31. All DIRTcar-sanctioned races count toward accumulated points from April 1 through Oct. 3, and the Late Models and UMP Modifieds close out the points season with the DIRTcar UMP Championship weekend on Oct. 8-9 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

* DIRTcar Western Region State points racing may continue through Nov. 14 and end with a championship event the weekend of Nov. 19-20, but drivers' will only accumulate points toward their State battles and not the national standings.

Over $160,000 in points-fund cash has been earmarked for the DIRTcar Late Model division in 2010, including the $55,100 payout for the upcoming DIRTcar Summer Nationals 'Hell Tour' that runs from June 16-July 17. The national champion will receive $20,000 and State titlists will pocket $2,000.

UMP Modified racers will chase over $120,000 in points-fund awards, including $65,535 that will be divided among the top 50 finishers in the national standings. The national champ will earn a $20,000 check and State titlists will receive $2,000.

The payoffs for the national champions in DIRTcar Racing's six other sanctioned divisions: Pro Late Models ($10,000), Sportsman ($3,000), Stock Cars ($3,000), Limited Modifieds ($1,000), Factory Stocks ($1,000) and Sport Compacts ($1,000). Drivers in each class will also compete for State points crowns

Dale Blaney leads green to checker for All Star Win!
Mike Pegher Jr. and Joe Kelley also victorious

Sarver, PA (June 4, 2010) Former Track and All Star Champion Dale Blaney dominated the 30-lap O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champion Sprint feature, leading wire-to-wire to win his second race of 2010 at Lernerville Speedway.  But despite leading every lap, Blaney had to hold off a late and furious charge by Former Track Champion and Defending All Star Champion Timmy Shaffer.  Danny Holtgraver continues to impress at the Action Track by finishing third to two of Lernerville’s finest exports!

Starting alongside Holtgraver on the front row, Blaney jumped out to a quick lead and quickly reeled in lapped traffic.  The lapped traffic didn’t seem to slow Blaney down, but as the laps clicked off, Shaffer was just a little bit better navigated the slower cars and pulled even twice in the closing laps, but could not complete a pass for the lead.  Blaney, carrying the Ti22 colors, captured his second Lernerville Speedway feature in three weeks, this time to the tune of $5,000!  Shaffer finished second. Smack dab in the middle of his breakout season, Danny Holtgraver proved once and for all tonight that he’s not just a future star in the Western PA sprint scene!  Holtgraver is a force to be reckoned with in the present!  He had posted four straight top five finishes in Fab Four Racing entering tonight’s All Star Race, and added another top five to the streak during All Star Competition.  He also turned in the third quickest lap of time trials. David Gravel finished fourth after taking third place away from Holtgraver on a restart, only to see Holtgraver take the spot back in lapped traffic later in the race.  All Star veteran Danny Smith rounded out the All Star Top Five.  David Gravel set quick time with a lap of 12.801seconds.  Greg Wilson, Dave Ely and Kevin Schaeffer won National Guard Heat Races.

Former Sportsman Stock Track Champion Mike Pegher Jr. won the DIRTcar Pro Late Model race over veteran driver David Scott.  Joe Kelley picked up his fifth win of the season in the Charapp Route 28 DIRTcar Sportsman division over Ryan Moyer.

Brad Neat Takes Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Event Friday Night at Tazewell

TAZEWELL, TN (June 4, 2010) - Taking the lead on lap 17, Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY held on for nearly 60 laps to score his first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win of 2010 in the Toyota Knoxville 75 on Friday Night at Tazewell Speedway.  Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN tried valiantly to get by Neat, but he had to settle for second. LOLMDS points' leader, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN held the third spot followed by Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN and Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN.

Rodney Kiker and Casebolt made up the front row of the 10,000 to win 75-lap Toyota Knoxville 75 held before a huge crowd.  Kiker started off quickly, grabbing the point on the opening lap as Neat, who started third moved into second ahead of Casebolt, Ogle, and Bloomquist. Kiker looked very good in the early laps of the race. Kiker held a three-car length lead over Neat and Casebolt in the first five laps of the race.  Kiker then started to hit heavy traffic by lap 12 and his lead shrank to a car length as he had Neat and Casebolt breathing down his neck.  In traffic, Neat overtook Kiker for the top spot on lap 17 and two circuits later Casebolt went by Kiker for second. Kiker then began to fade even more as Ogle passed him on lap 20 for third. The first caution of the race came out on lap 24 for Mike Marlar's flat tire. On the restart, Neat led the field to green, with Casebolt and Ogle lined up side-by-side for the restart.

The restart saw Ogle lose a spot to Bloomquist for third as the two frontrunners started to pull away.  Casebolt kept the heat on Neat for several more laps until lap 41 when he was able to pull alongside Neat momentarily in the race for the lead. Neat was up to the challenge as he beat Casebolt to line to continue to stay in the lead.  The top five with 45 laps scored remained Neat, Casebolt, Bloomquist, Ogle, and O'Neal.  The top five were all running on the same straightaway as Neat started to get into heavy traffic once again. With 25 laps remaining, Casebolt was all over Neat, he tried both low and high on the race track to get by Neat, but Neat held his line as he fought off repeated challenges from Casebolt.  The second and final caution came out for Kiker's flat tire on lap 54. Neat led the single file restart to the green. He quickly opened up a four car-length advantage over Casebolt with 15 laps to go.  Neat looked to be in control of the race until he entered traffic again. Casebolt picked up the pace and closed right onto Neat's deck lid in the final few laps. Casebolt repeatedly put the pressure on Neat, waiting for him to make a mistake. Bloomquist closed on Casebolt as but held off the duo's efforts and went on to record his first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win of the year and his first while driving for car owner, Bobby Labonte.

In Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the first time since Hagerstown (MD) Speedway, last August, Neat first congratulated his crew for sticking it out with him in what has been an up and down season.  "Man, I've got to thank this great crew of mine, they did a fabulous job tonight and they have done so all year. We haven't had the results we would have liked to this season, but it feels good to win here at Tazewell, it's always been a tough place for anyone to win at and we were just fortunate to get the lead when we did," said the 30-year-old University of Kentucky graduate. "We had pretty good year last year and we were looking forward to this year after teaming up with Bobby (Labonte) and Earl (Pearson Jr.), we've struggled at times and hopefully this will turn around our season and we can get some more wins and good finishes, it just helps everyone's morale on the team when you run good like this," said Neat, who's win at Tazewell was his third career Lucas Oil Late Model Series victory. Neat's MasterSbilt Cadillac is powered by Cornett Racing Engines and sponsored by Red Buck Cigars/Lucas Oil Products/T&T Energy/Sunoco Race Fuels, PRC and Hoosier Racing Tires.

Casebolt, who's primary car suffered mechanical issues in his pit before hot laps, brought out a back-up for time trials and won his heat race to earn the outside of the front row starting spot, finished a close second in the Bob Harris owned/Dixie Chopper/Rocket GTO.  Taking third and maintaining his points lead was Bloomquist in his Miller Brothers Construction/Vic Hill Racing Engines/Bloomquist Race Cars Monte Carlo SS. Fourth was Ogle in the Kilby Equipment/Competition Racing Engines/GTO Corvette. O'Neal, who started 12th came home fifth in the Superior Cleaning/ Jay Dickens Racing Engines/MasterSbilt Monte Carlo SS. Completing the top ten were Vic Hill of Morristown, TN; Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN; John Blankenship of Williamson, WV; Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI; and Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA.

EXPO SPEEDWAY RETURNS IN 2010 WITH 3 SHOWS

By Jim Balentine

When Expo Speedway closed at the end of the 1983 season local race fans hoped that one day the sound of stock cars would one day return to the giant 5/8 oval. In 1995 fans rejoiced as the King family from Bristolville brought Expo back to life with 4 special shows with large car counts and huge crowds. Then came silence……..once again Expo was gone…this time for 12 years until the Trumbull County fair took a chance at stock car racing during the annual fair in 2006…something that was done in 1981 to help boost attendance during the normal racing season. The stands were full of people both fan and curious onlooker as the show was a success. That one race night in 2006 prompted fair officials to continue the races during the fair for 2007 with 2 nights of action. In 2008 only one night was scheduled around other entertainment acts ..but none drew like the stock car races did.

Last year in 2009 racing was to be held for 3 nights during the fair, but rain wrecked havoc cancelling the BRP Modified show and moving the FASTRAK LATE MODEL show to Sunday afternoon. That move paired with the fair closing demo derby that night set an attendance record in both the grandstands and the fairgrounds as the largest 1 day crowd in recent history witnessed both events. Fairboard official voted for racing to return in 2010 with 3 STRAIGHT NIGHTS OF RACING on Tues June 29th,Wed June 30th, and Thurs July 1st.

On the card for TUES JUNE 29th will be the popular SCHOOL BUS RACES along with the MINI STOCKS which are 4 or 6 cylinder front wheel drive cars for amateur drivers. THE RULES WILL FOLLOW THE RACEWAY 7 AND MERCER RULEBOOK AND CARS WILL BE INSPECTED. Last years MINI STOCK race at EXPO was won by Scott Gilliland with Tim Callahan 2nd.

On WEDNESDAY June 30th the FASTRAK LATE MODELS will make their 3rd ever appearance in a REGIONAL show paying a season high $2,000 to win. In 2008 Mike Pegher Jr and Bobby Powell put on an epic battle in front of a standing room only crowd with Powell victorious. Last year Max Blair defeated a large field of cars and has won 3 in a row at RACEWAY 7 and 2 at MERCER this year. However, Max's father Rob Blair who is a standout champion Super Late Model racer is competing as well as last years National Champion Mike Pegher. Other drivers such as Dave Scott,Sharon winner Josh Holtgraver, Mike Blose, Dwayne Pond and Bud Watson are right in the hunt for a win on any given night. The FASTRAK LATE MODEL regional shows have average around 32 or so cars and this race should be no exception on a rare Wednesday night appearance. There have been 11 different winners in 20 regional races.

Accompanying the FASTRAK Late Models will the the always exciting EMODS will run as well to finish off the evening. . Local 2010 drivers Jeff Johnson, who’s father Bobby won a Stock title at Expo in 1981, Alan Dellinger who won the 1st ever Emod race at EXPO in 1995, Russ Dunn who won in 2007, Scott Stiffler, and Joel Watson, should also be in competition that night. In last year's EMOD feature PPMS regular DARYL CHARLIER led from the start and was not challenged the entire 15 laps. Mike Hoover flipped in turn 1 during the race and was uninjured. Fellow PPMS driver Wayne Tessean was second over Bob Diver.

THURSDAY JULY 1st will be the 3rd ever appearance of the BRP Big-Block Modified Tour at Expo after being rained out last year. The Modifieds were a weekly staple at Expo from 1980 untl the closing in 1983. The late Lou Blaney is the all time Modified winner at Expo with 16 wins. That year a young rookie Rex King. started his career at Expo and in 2006 picked up his 1st ever win at Expo. In 2007 history was made as King’s son Rex Jr. won the Modified feature becoming the 2nd father-son combo to win at Expo. Jeremiah Shingledecker who has been on a tear in 2010 will be competing as well as Kevin Bolland who began racing at Expo in 1982 and won a feature here in 1995. Huge Month For DIRTcar Racing Late Models Highlighted By $100,000 Dream At Eldora Speedway & Summer Nationals 'Hell Tour'

CONCORD, NC – June 4, 2010 – The biggest month of the season for DIRTcar Racing's headline Late Model division is about to blast off. It all starts on June 11-12 at Tony Stewart's famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, with the 16th running of the Dirt Late Model 'Dream,' a crown-jewel event that offers the division's biggest first-place prize (a whopping $100,000) and will once again be contested under the sanctioning of DIRTcar Racing.Just days later, on Wed., June 16, the DIRTcar Summer Nationals – DIRTcar Racing's signature annual Late Model extravaganza -- visits Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway to begin a full month of barnstorming across the Midwest. From Brownstown's opener to the traditional 'Birthday Race' finale on July 17 at Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio, the Summer Nationals is scheduled to run 29 events over a 32-day day period at 28 tracks in eight states. "This is without a doubt that time of the year that all DIRTcar Late Model fans and teams look forward to the most," said Sam Driggers, the director of DIRTcar Racing's UMP circuit. "For an entire month DIRTcar Late Model racing will dominate the national conversation."

There's no full-fender race on dirt that's bigger than the 'Dream,' the brainchild of former Eldora Speedway owner Earl Baltes. The brightest stars of the sport have hoisted the $100,000 check and are set to invade the imposing half-mile to chase the big money again. The defending Dream champion is Jimmy Owens of Newport, Tenn., a veteran racer who cut his racing teeth competing in DIRTcar's UMP Modified class. He won the open-wheel division's national title four times before making his mark on the Late Model world. A host of drivers with strong ties to DIRTcar Racing's historic Late Model circuit are expected to compete, including three-time and defending Summer Nationals champion Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, Ill., two-time Summer Nationals titlist Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, Ill., and defending DIRTcar Racing national champion Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill. Other top names from the DIRTcar Late Model ranks with plans to enter the Dream are current DIRTcar national points leader Rusty Schlenk of Jackson, Mich., whose first career feature win at Eldora came in an American Late Model Series event there on May 30, and perennial Summer Nationals and Eldora contender Jeep VanWormer of Pinconning, Mich.Erb, Babb, Feger and VanWormer are also among the drivers who have announced their intentions to follow the entire schedule of the 2010 Summer Nationals, the aptly-named 'Hell Tour' that serves as the sport's stiffest test of man and machine.

No driver in recent years has been steadier during the Summer Nationals grind than Erb, who is riding an unprecedented streak of three consecutive series championships. He's won his last two titles in dramatic fashion on the last night of the tour, beating Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., in 2008 and nipping Randy Korte of Highland, Ill., last season. Shirley is hoping to make it through the complete Summer Nationals sked again this year – and perhaps unseat Erb. But drivers such as Babb (second on the alltime SN win list with 59 victories), Feger (a breakout star in 2009) and VanWormer (11 career SN triumphs) figure to work their way into the championship conversation as well. Several other racers have made preliminary plans to hit the road for a month with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals, including Ryan Unzicker of El Paso, Ill., teenager Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, Ill., veteran Kevin Weaver of Gibson City, Ill., Wendell Wallace of Batesville, Ark., Jack Sullivan of Greenbrier, Ark., Josh McGuire of Grayson, Ky., and youngster Zack Dohm of Cross Lanes, W.Va. The 2010 DIRTcar Summer Nationals will arguably be the most grueling in the quarter-century history of the 'Hell Tour,' with a record number of races scheduled and just three off days listed. Barring ill weather, the series will run 19 straight nights (June 16-July 4) before teams will get their first day off and nearly 5,000 miles will be traveled between the tracks.

Several new tracks are part of the Summer Nationals this season, including Wilmot (Wis.) Raceway (June 20), Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind. (June 28) and Attica (Ohio) Raceway Park (July 16). The 'Hell Tour' will also make a grand return to Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., the only track that will host two Summer Nationals features as part of its two-day 'Masters' program on June 18 ($5,000 to win) and 19 ($10,000 to win). The state of Illinois remains the epicenter of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals, with 15 tracks hosting events. The series will also stop at four tracks in Indiana; two in Wisconsin (three races); two in Tennessee and Ohio; and one in Michigan, Missouri and Kentucky.

Penalties Levied for Pit Area Incident at Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway

CORONA, CA (June 2, 2010) -
Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Series have suspended driver Will Vaught for one year, starting May 30, 2010. Vaught, after contact with another driver on the race track, drove up the back straight-away, from turn three to the pit exit near turn two and against traffic and into the pit area. Continuing into the hot pit area, Vaught used his race car to assault driver Jesse Stovall - still in his car. Vaught crashed into Stovall's car causing severe damage and exposing crew members and others to risk of death or serious injury. This suspension applies to the Lucas Oil Speedway and the Lucas Oil MLRA.
Lucas Oil Late Model Series Director Ritchie Lewis said: "While with on-track incidents it can be difficult to determine whether the incident was an accident or purposeful, Mr. Vaught's actions were clearly deliberate, and dangerous to the other driver and exposed crew members to great risk. This type of action can not and will not be tolerated. Will is a good man that will be an asset to many forms of racing for years to come. He made a mistake and will pay for his off track actions and move forward. He has shared that he is not proud of his actions and the series will support him by staying in communication", said Lewis.
Vaught was disqualified from the race, the Show-Me 100, and his winnings will be forfeited and distributed to the DRO Program to support ministries for Lucas Oil Late Model drivers and teams. Officials want it to be clear that the penalty is directed only to the driver and that his car owner would be welcome to continue in competition with another driver.

Where to Stay: Reserved Camping is available on site, but was sold out as of June 1!  Reserved camping provides a flat space with proximity to the pits.  General Camping will also be available free of charge on a first come, first serve basis, but will be further away from the track.  There are no electric/water hookups in either area.

The Days Inn in Butler, PA is the top recommendation for travelers planning to stay at a hotel.  The Days Inn in Butler is located 10 miles from the speedway on route 8 just south of Butler.  The Days Inn has an indoor pool, on-site restaurant & lounge and is in close proximity to a handful of restaurants including McDonalds, Pizza Hut and Burger King.

Fans of Lernerville Speedway can also get a discounted rate at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Butler, PA.  With a few more amenities and services, the Fairfield standard rate for Lernerville Speedway fans is just $109 plus 9% occupancy tax.  The Fairfield Inn & Suites can be reached at (724) 283-0009.

Other nearby towns with hotels include (arranged in order of proximity) Butler, Kittanning, New Kensington, Cranberry Twp. and Harmar Twp.  Of those locations, while a little but further away, The Days Inn in Harmar Twp. probably provides the second best option to Butler as it is a short, easy trip down routes 356 & 28 and the area is loaded with restaurants, hotels and retail options.

How to get involved: As mentioned above, the 4th Annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com is more than a Three-Day World of Outlaws Late Model Series Race weekend; it’s a total fan experience!  Over the course of the weekend, fans can watch and even participate in activities off the track.

On Thursday Night, after time trials, heat races, Last Chance Showdowns and a $6,000-to-win, 30-lap WoO LMS Feature, the Joe Patrick Band will rock the crowd with a rousing concert in the parking lot, free of charge!

Friday afternoon’s slate includes a Hot Dog Eating Contest and a Best Tailgating Party & Best Camp Site Contest.  Fans can sign up for the Hot Dog Eating Contest at the Lernerville Souvenir Trailer Thursday Night.  After the Hot Dog Eating Contest, the fine folks from Budweiser will browse the parking lots and camping areas for the Best Tailgating Party and Best Camp Site.  Another complete WoO LMS Show highlighted by a $6,000-to-win, 30-lap Feature will be followed by a dazzling fireworks display by Premier Pyrotechnics and another concert in the parking lot with National Recordings Artist Vanessa Campagna and Firecracker fan favorite NoMAD.

The off-track fan festivities resume Saturday afternoon with the Annual Driver/Fan Horseshoe Tournament at 12:00.  Fans will be selected Thursday and Friday Nights.  Following the Horseshoe Tournament, we will crown a new Lernerville Trophy Girl in the Ms. Firecracker Pageant starting at 2:00.  The fan interaction peaks with a pre-race Driver Autograph Session under the grandstands at 4:00.  As mentioned above, you can get priority access to the Driver Autograph Session by purchasing your tickets in advance!
