No time to slow down
Even past retirement age, Blaine Aber remains one of this areas top competitors and still winning races. Well known late model shoe, Aber has shifted gears and now throws a Pete Grove owned Modified into the corners of Hilltop, Cannonball, and Muskingum County dirt tracks. Draime supplies the power and Larry Shaw hooks it to the track while a multitude of sponsors such as Dave Poske, Premier Pallet and Recycling, Banshee Grapics, Tank Services, American Race Tire, Quick Time Performance, Northern Mobile Electric, Bowman Beverage, and Buck Hill Fabrication keep the team provided with everything it takes to be competitive. "Those Shaw cars handle like a Cadillac and I'll tell ya, that motor has the power, it's one heck of a ride." With one feature win, several fast times and a handful of top fives, Aber still admits he is struggling a little, especially at Muskingum where the competition doesn't come any better. "Pete gives us everything we need, but he also expects us to win. With two cars in the garage, Matt (Aber) drives the Huff car, we have to work all week to be ready to race on Friday night. I mean you don't have to work on them that much but if you want to be fast, if you want to be competitive and not have problems that's what you gotta do. We make sure we're ready when we roll into the track." You'll be able to see Blaine in action over the 4th Holiday at 250 Speedway in Cadiz on Friday, then at Muskingum on Saturday.
