O’Reilly All Star Late Models invade the Action Track Friday April 30
for the $5,000-to-win Showdown in Sarvertown!!
Plus DIRTcar Pro Lates & UMP Modifieds for $800-to-win!

Sarver, PA (April 26, 2010) With an exciting night of Fab Four Racing still fresh in the memory of fans, the O’Reilly All Star Late Model Series haulers have identified their first target of the 2010 season and have set coordinates for Don Martin’s Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA.  The All Stars Late Model Series made their debut at Lernerville Speedway last spring before embarking on a successful and thrilling tour of some of the best dirt tracks in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Michigan, Virginia and Indiana.

This Friday Night April 30, the All Stars return to where it all started to drop the green flag on their 2010 season.  2009 Series Champion Robbie Blair and Inaugural All Star 50 Feature Winner Boom Briggs will roll into the Action Track to do battle with Lernerville regulars like Three-time Defending Track Champion Alex Ferree and Five-Time Champion Lynn Geisler. Other drivers expected to be in attendance for the 'Showdown in Sarvertown' include Rod Conley, Jason Covert, Doug Drown, Jared Hawkins, Matt Lux, Devin Moran, and Donnie Moran along with a mix of regional and local Lernerville regulars including Todd Bachman, Keith Barbara, Denton Boyer, John Garvin Jr., Dave Hess Jr., Doug Horton, Mike Knight, Gary Lyle, Jared Miley, Dave Murdick, Gregg Satterlee, and Chad Valone.

A complete ASLMS program will be in store for Showdown in Sarvertown including the Victory Signs Time Trials presented by Fleming Design Solutions, Rocket Chassis Heat Races, Dirtfix.net B-Main’s presented by Stivason Photos, and a $5,000 to-win, 50-lap A-Main feature. In addition to the thrilling action of All Stars Late Models, the DIRTcar Pro Late Models make their first visit to the Action Track in 2010 after three exciting events in 2009.  Winners last season include David Scott, Jim Frank and Josh Holtgraver.

The UMP Modifieds made just one visit to the Sarver 4/10-mil speedplant in 2009, but it was a thrilling weekend of racing during the DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede, where Randy Hall beat out Dave Hess Jr. and a loaded field of drivers. With $800-to-win features in both divisions, the entire program of the Showdown in Sarvertown should provide three and four-wide racing like we saw last Friday Night!

Pit gates will open at 5:00PM for the $5,000 to-win 'Showdown in Sarvertown' while the driver’s meeting will be held at approximately 6:30PM.  Hot laps are scheduled to begin around 6:45PM and the Victory Signs Time Trials presented by Fleming Design Solutions at 7:15PM.  Racing will follow time trials at approximately 8:00PM.  Transponders will be required and available to rent at Lernerville Speedway and Racecievers will be required at all ASLMS events. General Admission tickets are just $20 for adults, $15 for students and as always, children 10 & under are admitted free.  Reserved tickets are just an addition $2 for adults and students.  Pit passes are $25 for DIRTcar members and $35 for non-members.

Ken Schrader to Race in the Black Diamond at Tyler County!
January News Items

ooWasn't so long ago Pennsboro was a happenin' little place. The fans flocked to the hillside and the big stars raced alongside hillbilly hometown talent, all hoping to become the next Jim Dunn story. The 5/8ths mile former horse track located in Ritchie County WV was my first visit to a speedway other than Wayne County and I can't thank two very good friends enough for turning me on to another side of dirt track racing because this is where I learned it's not just about attracting a big field of cars and lots of fans, a pretty race track going three wide in every corner (that does help), but really about bringing a lot of different people together for a great time.
ooUnfortunately everything changes over time and although I love hearing about a possible come back, Pennsboro has washed away forever. The bitter dispute between Gross and Short has practically erased some of the best years of the Hillbilly Hundred and DTWC while recent events saw only limited success as they bounce from track to track. In 2010 the re-emergence of West Virginia Motor Speedway will bring both to one facilty once again with hope for returning the stability and prestige these crown jewells have lost. This won't be easy because the Black Diamond at Tyler threatens to split fans and competition but for now it looks like the Labor Day road trip is back on from Portsmouth to WVMS, only a wave as we drive right past Pennsoro taking the back way to Tyler County,
only a fond remembrance of an almost forgotten I-79, and the majic we hope to find once again..

- Entering a fifteenth year of publication, RPM Racing News has ended their run and now joins Tri State Racing News, Marc Times, Dirt Racing Round Up, Mid American Auto Racing News, Speedway Illustrated, and other weekly periodicals in the no longer circulated category. RPM was particularly strong in the Western Pennsylvania / Eastern Ohio oval dirt track market and at one time was this regions only racing trade paper to offer "opinionated" columns that sometimes infuriated a few unscrupulous race track owners. Together co editors Dave Kittey and Dr. David Horn posessed a wealth of racing history and knowledge to produce pages filled with entertaining news. RPM will greatly be missed, fortunately another well respected trade paper has stepped up and will attempt to fill the void created by this loss of racing media.
ooArea Auto Racing News will now incorporate many of the former RPM writers and photographers into their pages which are published every week in an effort to continue and possibly step up racing coverage of our tri state region. Current RPM subscribers have been added to the AARN mailing list in order to fulfill their paid subscriptions.
ooThe internet may be the first place to look for news but there is nothing better than having your racing papers delivered directly to your mailbox or buying a "hard copy" at your favorite race track and reading accurate news at your leisure. As hard as race teams work and when that elusive checkered flag finally waves in your favor, nothing else can compare than the recognition recieved along with permanately recording your place in history that only comes from this form of printed media. Links can be found above and I urge everyone to support publications like AARN, and Late Model Illustrated.
